These border crossings are not only economically important, they’re also significant in our nation’s post 911 security. Travel time at the border has significantly changed due to the new security issues and with our crossings nearing capacity, this time will only increase significantly.

I don’t mean to propose that those in poverty be doomed and destined to remain impoverished, but what if the Capitalist quest of ever-expanding growth suddenly became passe? What if having only what you need for a nominal, healthy existence became the pinnacle of societal success? OK. That question is flawed since everyone’s definition of nominal and healthy are different.
