So, Do You Think That the Economy is Improving at All?
After going through a hard core recession like the one we just had, it’s hard to figure out where the bottom actually is or was to get a bearing on what you should do next. Some who succeed in such times or guess the right time to get back in, are victims of tragedy or successful because of dumb luck. And speaking of this topic, not long ago someone asked me a rather interesting question about where I thought our economy was on or about Tax Day 2010.
The Credit Crunch in ItalyThe global downturn and the banking crisis together with slow productivity and a weak economy (its annual rate of growth is only 1.5% compared to an EU average of 2.2%) meant that Italy officially went into its worst recession in 30 years in the third quarter of 2008. But the signs are now pretty strong that she has come out the other side. According to Irwin Stelzer of the Hudson Institute “Economists at Goldman Sachs expect the Italian economy to grow 1.6% next year.”
